Kuala Lumpur, Wed: Off-road dirt bikers hold on tight. Another local motorsport first is heading this way. The Persaturan Pemotoran Malaysia (PPM) fresh from its first motorsport venture at the recent 1st Asian Cross-Country Rally, will organise the inaugural Malaysia International 3 Days Enduro - a two wheeler motoring extravaganza. The International event which will be held from March 14-16 next year will be flagged off in Kuala Lumpur. It will then shoot off to Gua Musang-Kuantan-Tasek Cini and then back here again. PPM President Datuk Osu Haji Sukam, who was present at the event's soft launch yesterday, hopes that the motoring milestone will cultivate the local interest in off-road biking. |
"The meet will be an excellent opportunity to motivate young riders - especially the locals - for future international excellence ." said Osu who is also the Minister of Land and Cooperative Development. The event's chairman Datuk Dr Haji Mohammed Mydin said PPM had already received 50 entries confirmed from Japan while a few Taiwanese teams had shown interest. Mohammed added that PPM will try to woo local participants mainly from the Hirev Dirt Bike circuit challenge and open its doors to the SEA region dirt bike enthusiasts. The event, modelled after the famed International 6 Days Trial (ISDT) and International 6 Days Enduro (ISDE) is expected to attract 100-130 bikers competing in seven different categories. |
